The first question everyone asks is what home & fire insurance covers — because the name 'fire insurance' might suggest only fire, but it actually covers several other perils.
Basic coverage
- Fire: damage to your building and contents.
- Lightning: damage caused by lightning.
- Explosion: damage from explosions of gas or flammable substances, subject to conditions.
- Storm: damage from storms, within the policy scope.
Water damage vs. flood — not the same
- Water damage: from burst pipes, leaks, or home appliances — usually basic cover.
- Flood: external flood water, usually a separate limited amount.
Both our sample-quote plans have a 20,000 THB flood limit with a 7-day waiting period.
Add-on coverage
- Burglary with forcible entry
- Third-party liability
- Temporary accommodation
These add-on limits are the main difference between Master Home and Perfect Home — see the comparison page.
Peril limits to know
Each peril has specific conditions. For example, burglary cover usually applies only with visible signs of forcible entry. Read the full policy carefully.
Summary
Home & fire insurance covers more than fire — including lightning, explosion, storm, and add-ons like burglary and third-party liability. Start with the home insurance overview.
